Introduction

We are pleased to introduce Mailbox Access Pre-Auth, a convenient feature that allows you to access your voicemail messages directly without entering your mailbox number and PIN each time. By creating a speed dial on your phone, you can instantly access a specific voicemail box to collect and listen to messages with a single button press.

How It Works

Mailbox Access Pre-Auth uses a special dialing sequence that includes your account ID and mailbox PIN. When you dial this sequence, the system authenticates you automatically and takes you straight to your voicemail messages.

Dialing Sequence

  • Mailbox Access Pre-Auth: Dial 550#{account ID}#{mailbox PIN}
    • 550#: The feature code to initiate mailbox access.
    • {account ID}: Your unique account identifier, usually in the form of an 11-digit number (e.g., 21412345678).
    • {mailbox PIN}: Your voicemail PIN code.

Steps to Set Up and Use Mailbox Access Pre-Auth

1. Identify Your Account ID and Mailbox PIN

  • Account ID: Typically an 11-digit number assigned to your account (e.g., 21412345678).
  • Mailbox PIN: The personal identification number you use to access your voicemail.

2. Create the Dialling Sequence

  • Combine the feature code, account ID, and mailbox PIN into the following
    550#{account ID}#{mailbox PIN}
  • Example:
    • Account ID: 21412345678
    • Mailbox PIN: 1234
    • Dialing Sequence: 550#21412345678#1234

3. Program a Speed Dial (Optional but Recommended)

To make accessing your voicemail even more convenient, program this dialing sequence into a speed-dial key on your phone.

  1. Access MyCloudVoIP Portal
    • Within the Handset pages of our portal, find the appropriate handset
  2. Click on Keys
  3. Add New Speed-Dial Key
    • Select an appropriate key, and in the drop-down, select Speed Dial|
  4. Enter the Dialling Sequence
    • Enter a meaningful label, and the number as per the format:
      550#{account ID}#{mailbox PIN}
  5. Save the Settings
    • Confirm and save your configuration.

4. Access Your Voicemail

  • Using Speed Dial:
    • Press the assigned speed-dial key.
    • You will be taken directly to your voicemail messages without additional prompts.
  • Dialing Manually:
    • Lift the handset or activate the dialing interface.
    • Dial 550#{account ID}#{mailbox PIN}.
    • You will be granted immediate access to your voicemail.

Example

Let’s illustrate how to use Mailbox Access Pre-Auth with an example.

  • Account ID: 21412345678
  • Mailbox PIN: 1234
  • Dialing Sequence: 550#21412345678#1234

Steps:

  1. Program the Speed Dial:
    • Assign the sequence 550#21412345678#1234 to a speed-dial key.
  2. Access Voicemail:
    • Press the speed-dial key.
    • You are now directly accessing the voicemail messages for account 21412345678.

Important Notes

  • Security Considerations:
    • Protect Your PIN: Since the PIN is included in the dialing sequence, ensure that your phone is secure to prevent unauthorized access.
    • Use on Personal Devices: It is recommended to use this feature only on personal or secured devices.
  • Account ID Format:
    • The account ID is usually in the form of an 11-digit number (e.g., 21412345678).
    • Ensure you enter the account ID correctly to avoid accessing the wrong mailbox.
  • Mailbox PIN Changes:
    • If you change your mailbox PIN, remember to update the speed-dial sequence accordingly.

Use Cases

Quick Access for Frequent Users

If you frequently check your voicemail, this feature saves time by eliminating the need to enter your mailbox number and PIN each time.

Shared Phones in Secure Environments

In environments where phones are shared but secure (e.g., private offices), setting up Mailbox Access Pre-Auth allows for quick voicemail access without compromising security.
